Cross Platform Application Interoperability

Directional Consulting has extensive knowledge and experience working with integrated cross-platform applications on different operating systems, both on-premises and in the cloud. Our expertise includes popular open-source self-hosted platforms, such as WordPress, Drupal, and Sugar CRM, plus numerous GitHub repositories offering COTS (Common Off-The-Shelf) solutions for businesses to develop further and customize.

We have considerable experience working with existing code repositories and applications in production. Our goal is to understand existing legacy company applications to provide a technical roadmap for upgrading and enhancing the feature sets, performance, data accessibility, and reports visibility.

File Sharing and Central Authentication

Exceptional cross-platform connectivity means using the classic Linux interoperability tool sets, like NFS, CIFS, Samba, Kerberos AD, LDAP, and PAM plugins, to centralize all the user accounts and groups with the Windows Active Domain controller. Our standard configuration is the traditional user and groups role-based access architecture using integrated Linux tools to grant administrative rights to the resident IT System Administrator and follow standard IT Governance Guidelines.

W3C Standards Guidance

The W3C Standards and Guidelines aim to unify the Internet experience for everyone, meaning traditional user interfaces, web browsing behaviors, and human input devices. Accessibility for everyone means following the Aria Specifications by implementing various user input methods and interfaces. As a result, maintaining compliance with W3C Guidance means an intuitive experience that is easy to understand for most users.

Open Source and Open Standards

Directional Consulting has a long history of working with open-source libraries and using common open standards for coding practices, documentation, and delivery methods. As an active contributor, I participate in a few Linux open-source projects like Launchpad and a few repositories on GitHub. The open-source evolution has become the basis of many careers, allowing code authors to build proprietary software on top of public libraries for internal applications. In addition, the uniform open standards and programming languages offer many COTS (Common Off-The-Shelf) solutions for many custom applications.
